Ms. Nane Ghazaryan, Deputy Head of the Cadastre Committee of the Republic of Armenia, has been elected as a member of the Executive Board of the United Nations Regional Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management for Europe (UN-GGIM: Europe).

The 13th Plenary Meeting of the United Nations Regional Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management for Europe (UN-GGIM: Europe) was held in Geneva, Switzerland, on 23–24 June 2026.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the Committee’s overall programme of work and matters relating to the Regional Committee’s formal business. Participants also considered proposals for incorporating new initiatives into the work programme, identifying potential gaps, and introducing additional measures to further strengthen the Committee’s work.

The discussions also covered opportunities for integrating regional and global spatial data infrastructures, developing legal frameworks to facilitate access to spatial data, and promoting the standardization of geospatial data in accordance with international standards to ensure interoperability, data sharing, and effective use.

During the discussions, Ms. Ghazaryan presented the Republic of Armenia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the institutional framework for geospatial data governance, enhance the legal and regulatory framework governing the geospatial sector, further develop the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) and the Unified State Geoportal, and establish an efficient geospatial governance framework.
