The Head of the Cadastre Committee, Suren Tovmasyan, and Secretary General Mher Khachatryan participated in the 16th Session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM), held in New York from 5 to 7 August 2026.

The agenda of the Session provides for discussions on expanding global arrangements for geospatial information management, enhancing the contribution of regional committees to the global geospatial information agenda, establishing thematic networks, shaping the future geospatial information ecosystem, as well as other matters directly related to the mandate and functions of the Cadastre Committee.

As part of the event, the Head of the Cadastre Committee delivered statements related to agenda items. In particular, he presented the progress made by the Republic of Armenia in implementing the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (IGIF), highlighting efforts to expand access to information on cadastral maps, land parcels, and addresses of immovable property. In the statement on geospatial information and sustainable development, emphasis was placed on the importance of Armenia’s integrated national geoportal, launched in 2022 as a single, unified platform bringing together data on climate change, the environment, infrastructure, and other key sectors. In the statement on integrated geospatial information for effective land administration and management, the legislative reforms implemented in Armenia were highlighted as playing a decisive role in the continued modernization of the country's cadastral system.

The 16th Session also featured the presentation of Armenia's Country Report on geospatial information management.
