- topographic cartography, including the creation and updating of RA topographic maps scale from 1:10000 to 1:1000000,
- cadastral cartography, including creation and updating of cadastral maps,
- thematic cartography, including atlases, creation and publication of educational and other kind of maps,
- creation of a geographic information system, including creation of electronic maps for the geographic information system base of the RA different settlements,
- geographical names, including creation of the state library of geographical names, creation of various official bulletins and dictionaries, regulation of geographical names.
